About Our Lab

The Sustainability and Adaptability for Green Energy Lab conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of energy, environment, and policy to support a just and effective global transition toward carbon neutrality. With a strong emphasis on policy-driven approaches, our lab explores innovative solutions to address climate and energy challenges.

Key research areas include policy design for energy and environmental sustainability, readiness assessment of technology and institutional systems for climate technology deployment, and public finance for carbon neutrality. Our lab also focuses on renewable energy development for sustainable growth in developing countries, international cooperation in climate action, and institutional governance for energy transition. Additionally, we examine the political economy of energy transition and climate change and apply policy theories to guide evidence-based decision-making.

Our work spans not only domestic contexts but also diverse geographic regions, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia, Africa, and East Asia, where energy transitions intersect with broader development goals. The lab collaborates closely with domestic and international partners to build robust research networks and amplify real-world impact. Through the International Energy Expert Network (IEEN), we facilitate knowledge exchange via annual forums, policy dialogues, and joint research initiatives.

To tackle the complexity of energy and climate issues, we employ a wide range of methodological tools, including readiness assessment frameworks, statistical analysis, large language models (LLMs), narrative analysis, stakeholder network analysis (SNA), multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM). Such methodological innovation and adaptation are central to our research philosophy, ensuring that our work remains both rigorous and practical for policymakers and practitioners.

SAGEE Lab의 연구는 국내를 넘어 동남아시아, 아프리카, 동아시아 등 다양한 지역으로 확장되며, 각 지역에서 에너지 전환과 개발 목표가 어떻게 맞물리는지를 중점적으로 분석합니다. 국내외 연구기관 및 전문가들과 긴밀히 협업하며, 실질적인 정책 및 사회적 파급력을 지닌 연구성과를 도출하고자 합니다. 특히, 국제에너지전문가네트워크(IEEN)를 중심으로 연례 포럼, 정책 세미나, 공동연구 등을 활발히 운영하며 지식 교류의 장을 지속적으로 넓혀가고 있습니다.
